In the Tropenmuseum Friedie Hellemons will present his research in Bahia, Brazil, on Candomblé. Candomblé is an Afro-Brazilian religion that emerged in the days of slavery. It is based on traditoinal West-African religion with elements of Catholicism. Through word and image Hellemons introduces this religion, where trance - becoming possessed by the Orixas; African deities - plays an important role.
