We have reached the limit for available spots, therefore registrations are closed.

DutchCulture and Kunstenpunt joined forces once again by organising a networking event around sound art in the Netherlands and Belgium on 2 June. Neighboring Frequencies is a part of the 9th FIBER Festival, in which STUK, FIBER and de Brakke Grond present installations, performances and lectures about sound art.

Sound art – an eclectic mix of artworks, design projects and performances – is a unifying element between the Netherlands and Belgium. There is a lively field of hybrid art practices in which the investigation of sound is central in many artistic, technical and critical forms. In the process, there is regular collaboration across borders. There is a noticeable rise in public interest in sound art, which thrives on the confluence of music, visual art, architecture, software development, creative coding and audiovisual creativity, increasingly with a social focus. The spectrum of sound art works ranges from immersive spatial installations and the innovation of unique instruments to performative concerts, audio interventions in public spaces and experimental stage performances.

For the networking programme and lunch, we are inviting a selection of Belgium and Netherlands-based artists, designers, makers, researchers and innovators from different fields to engage in dialogue, and to explore and create new paradigms within the artistic and creative landscape.
