Photo expo on Turkish-Armenian border
A series of photographs on the daily life of twin cities in Armenia and Turkey will be presented in the exposition ‘Crossing Borders between Turkey and Armenia'. The photos will be on display in the Atrium of The Hague City Hall from 15 October to 1 November 2013.
'Crossing Borders between Turkey and Armenia´ is a series of photographs by Zaven Khachikyan, Mesut Tufan and Kadir van Lohuizen on the daily life of the ‘twin’ cities of Gyumri in Armenia and Kars in Turkey, as well as on the archaeological site of Ani, located in Turkey.
The interplay between photographs and textual background information in ‘Crossing Borders’ takes the viewer on a fascinating journey through the border region.
Justice and reconciliationThe photo exhibition is presented by the Institute for Historical Justice and Reconciliation (IHJR). The IHJR seeks to provide a neutral space for dialogue and understanding in divided societies by engaging artists and scholars to work together to enable people to better understand themselves and ‘the other’.
More information on the IHJR can be found at www.historyandreconciliation.org.
