Songs of Longing - Podium Mozaiek

This year, it’s 50 years since the first guest worker arrived to the Netherlands from Turkey.  As the Netherlands became these workers’ new home, their old home didn’t lose its appeal.  Turkey’s air, its food, the landscape and culture - but especially its folk songs evoke nostalgia and longing for the place that they came from.

Six well-known soloists from Turkey and the Netherlands will sing during this one-off concert about loss and longing, taking place in Amsterdam. They will perform both existing and newly written and composed songs from many different corners of Turkey. It promises to be a highly memorable evening.
