Tan Dun Artist in residence Amsterdam Cello Biennale
Date(s)
Friday 26 October - Saturday 3 November 2012
That Tan Dun (China’s best-known contemporary composer) is particularly fond of the cello, is the reason for inviting him to be the Artist in Residence at the Biënnale 2012. In this programme he conducts his own Four Secret Roads to Marco Polo with eight cellists of the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orchestra in playing the leading part. Other important roles are assigned to the Scandinavians, Truls Mørk and Andreas Brantelid in Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Pezzo Capriccioso.
