In mid 1980s, Chinese composer Tan Dun was already introduced to the Dutch audience. While he moved to the United States, Tan soon became the most well known Chinese composer of his generation. 

The original scores of three Chinese films especially brought Tan Dun international fame: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, the Oscar-winning music for Hero and The Banquet. These films have featured the esteemed Chinese martial art with various themes including honor, morality and forbidden love, all of which are reflected in Tan’s fine music. In the concert, music will be accompanied along with images from the films.
