The 7 Hills foundation, founded in 2009, represents and presents Turkish contemporary art and artists at their new Art Space 7 located in the heart of Amsterdam. This foundation researches, educates and presents at the same time. 7 Hills Foundation is a multi-medium organization who presents, creates and produces many different projects focused on Turkey and the near-east. The first project was the 1. Amsterdam Turkish Film Festival (www.atff.nl). It was a contemporary art festival which presented many examples of different art mediums such as art house movies, music & dance performances, installation art and more. A selection of art will be brought to the western public from other types of multi-cultural, open minded and historical cities like Istanbul, Casablanca and Tel Aviv, independent of any worldly belief.

7 Hills Foundation is busy with preparations of its summer project: a theater play which is selected in the program of theatre festival De Parade in Amsterdam (www.deparade.nl). Title of the play is 'Sag mir wo die blumen sind.' quoted from the well known song of Marlene Dietrich the icon of the first part of last century. The play will be directed by young, talented Turkish director Melih Gencboyaci.

One of 7 Hills' more prestigious projects Art Space 7 will have its opening in September 2010 with an exposition of Turkish artists from all over Europe and Turkey. In the art space many young, fresh and talented Turkish art and artists will be presented in various concepts. 7 Hills works with art academies and the art scene directly since the founders have a great network both in Turkey and Holland.

Trans Artists

Trans Artists is a knowledge centre on artist-in-residence opportunities. Trans Artists distributes knowledge and experience about facts, use and value of international artist-in-residence programs as well as other opportunities for artists to stay and work elsewhere 'for art's sake'. Trans Artists operates mainly from the artists' perspective and usually cooperates with a wide range of partners in all world regions, increasingly more in depth within European countries. Trans Artists makes the enormous worldwide residential art labyrinth accessible and usable to the artists, through its website, newsletter, research and workshop programs.
Past projects between 2004 and now in Turkey or with Turkish partners include:

* Through mrs. Ilgim Veryeri-Alaca, lecturer at the Beykent University in Istanbul, Beykent University became a partner in the so-called 'Prologue' network, established during a meeting in May 2008 in Enschede. For this network Trans Artists invited partners from different European regions, aiming to address the specific needs of artists to access mobility programs, more specifically artist-in-residence opportunities.

* Mrs. Ilgim Veryeri-Alaca invited Trans Artists to give a workshop 'How to become an artist-in-residence' at Beykent University in Istanbul, which took place successfully in February 2009.
