Jan Smeets Fonds: Exportregeling
Funding for (inter)national tours of pop musicians from the province of Limburg

The Jan Smeets Fund is an initiative of the provincial pop organisation Pop In Limburg. As a tribute to Jan Smeets' indelible passion for music, the fund is dedicated to supporting and nurturing local Limburg talents. This may include the funding of an international tour.

  • The applicant must reside in (Dutch) Limburg or originate from (Dutch) Limburg and have lived outside the province for no more than five years;
  • For bands or groups: the majority (more than 50%) must come from Limburg, and the band or artist must identify as Limburg-based;
  • A management team can apply for funding on behalf of an artist or act, but management costs cannot be included in the budget.

  • Only costs directly related to the act can be reimbursed, including travel expenses for band and crew members and costs for hired sound or lighting technicians. Travel costs for accompanying management, merchandise sellers, or photographers will not be covered, as these are considered "extra" expenses.
  • Travel and accommodation costs must be based on standard low-budget prices.
How much

A maximum of €1,000 per club or festival tour. This amount will not exceed the applicant’s own contribution and will cover no more than 50% of the total tour costs.

  • The planned tour must consist of at least four shows within an eight-week period. "Going on tour" refers to official shows at venues such as music halls or festivals that are publicly promoted.
  • The shows must take place outside a 25 km radius from the artist's place of residence or across the national border.
  • The artist/band must primarily perform original material (not just cover songs).
  • There must be an expected financial shortfall in the budget.
  • Participating band members, crew members, and technicians must be paid. At least €75 per person per show must be allocated in the budget as a performance fee. Crew and technician fees must be fair and realistic.
