Scholarships for young artistic talents in the field of music

The VandenEnde Foundation (VDEF) is a private cultural fund established in 2001 by Joop and Janine van den Ende. The VDEF contributes to strengthening the cultural climate in the Netherlands, with the aim of ensuring that young people grow up in a society where interest in art and culture is self-evident. The VDEF provides scholarships to young artistic talents in the field of music, theater, dance and film & TV, to further their development. Since its establishment, over 750 young people have been able to study at prestigious institutions in the Netherlands ánd abroad with a scholarship from the VDEF.

Who can apply
Individuals

Young artistic talents in the Netherlands in the field of music who wish to further their development. If an applicant is a minor at the time of application, the application must be made on their behalf by a parent or legal guardian of the applicant.

For what
Research
  • Full-time study at a renowned music institution abroad;
  • Short-term studies, summer courses, workshops, or masterclasses in the Netherlands or abroad;
  • A series of private lessons with a different instructor than the applicant's regular music teacher.
How much

The applicant's own contribution is at least 10% of the total costs.

Requirements
  • The applicant holds Dutch nationality (or the nationality of another EU or EEA member state or Switzerland) and has been registered in the Netherlands for at least three years prior to the application;
  • The applicant is not older than 18 years (for pop or jazz education: not older than 26 years or for vocal education not older than 26 years);
  • The applicant has completed a government-recognized (pre)education program for young talent and/or a recognized professional education program at at least HBO level (in the same field as the application is made for);
  • The program for which the application is made does not start within a period of two months after the deadline for submission.

    Limitations:
  • A music scholarship is only granted to performing musicians and not for education in the discipline of music teaching, etc.;
  • Scholarships cannot be requested for internships during a music education;
  • A contribution for attending a short-term (summer) course, workshop or master class is granted for a maximum of three consecutive years.
