Kütahya (0274)

Kütahya has 212,444 inhabitants (2009 estimate) and is famous for its kiln products, such as tiles and pottery, which are glazed and multicolored. Every year in August there is a traditional tile making and ceramics festival. Aesop, the ancient Greek writer of fables, and the Turkish globe traveler and author Evliya Çelebi, are believed to have been born in the city. The Kütahya Museum has a collection of ceramics from the area.

Kütahya Dumlupınar University began to operate in 1992. Before that time it was a part of Anadolu University.
