Kayseri is a large and industrialized city in Central Anatolia. The city of Kayseri currently has a population of 911,984. Its inhabitants are renowned for their alertness, entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to trade everything. The city itself is a blend of wealth, modernity and provincial conservatism and is often cited among Turkey's Anatolian Tigers, medium sized Turkish cities that quickly develop economically. Between 3-5 % of the Dutch Turkish re-migrated pensioners live around Kayseri. Queen Beatrix visited Kayseri in 2007.

Erciyes University,

Erciyes University, besides a campus in Kayseri's city-center, runs most of its activities in Central Anatolia. It has a Faculty of Arts and Sciences and in 1992 a Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts was opened.

 

Events and organizations that are relevant for art and culture in Kayseri are:

-          Kayseri Chamber Of Architects (Kayseri Mimarlar Odası).

-          National Photograph Amateurs Organization (UFAD – Ulusal Fotoğraf Amatörleri Derneği) is an active photographers’ organization and they organize exhibitions.

-          Kayseri Municipality Culture and Social Works Office (Kayseri Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kültür ve Sosyal İşler Dairesi) is the city’s most active organization.

-          Kayseri Kocasinan Municipality Culture and Social Works Office (Kayseri Kocasinan Belediyesi Kültür ve Sosyal İşler Dairesi) .

-          Kayseri Melikgazi Municipality Culture and Social Works Office (Kayseri Melikgazi Belediyesi Kültür ve Sosyal İşler Dairesi) .

-          Tolga Art Center (Tolga Sanat Atölyesi) prepares students to the Fine Arts Faculties. They are mostly focussed on painting.

-          Objektif Art Center (Objektif Sanat Atölyesi) prepares students for the Fine Arts Faculties. They are considered successful in fine art education.

-          There was a Europe-Anatolia Cultures Meeting organized by Anadolu Kültür.
