The vision of both Corts Foundations is to make an important contribution to the preservation and dissemination of documentary heritage in the field of the History of World War II and Asian-European Relations so as to safeguard information on common and national history. The Foundations focus on four areas of interest. These are in short: To promote documentary heritage and archive preservation projects in co-operation with universities, scientific and government institutions, and archives to improve public accessibility; to facilitate projects which trace, locate and save fragile historical document collections in both the Netherlands and Indonesia. To support the translation of key documents about the Japanese occupation of Indonesia and the Dutch-Indonesian War (1945-1949), in particular the Senshi Sosho series, and other documentation from Japanese, Dutch and Indonesian sources. To initiate and support the conservation, digitization, and accessibility of 17th and 18th century Dutch archives in Indonesia, following their inclusion into the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. To fund research and the publication and translation of books relevant to the fields mentioned above. In addition, the Foundation contributes towards the compilation of inventories, catalogues, indexes, secondary search aids relevant to the history of the Netherlands and Indonesia and the development of digital libraries, preservation imaging and digital public access tools. The Foundation also manages and restores the so-called Corts House in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.
