The Ghana Studies Association (GSA) is the successor to the Akan Studies Council (ASC), founded in 1988, and the Ghana Studies Council (GSC), established in 1994. It is a multidisciplinary organization of scholars based in Africa, the United States, Europe, and Asia, whose research interests focus on the peoples of the West African state of Ghana.
