The University of São Paulo (USP) holds a bibliographic and documentary on Brazilian affairs in the country and in the world. The responsibility for improving access to their collections, coupled with the fact that the University meets the technical and technological resources that allow do it, resulted in a strategic Project BRASILIANA USP: the formation of a digital brasiliana, to be built by a network nationally articulated in public and private institutions willing to participate in it. USP takes with this project upon itself the task of making unrestricted access to public funding of scientific information and documentation under their care. Accessible to the public since June 2009, Brasiliana USP aims to provide the largest search Brasiliana guarded by an educational institution on a global scale, making it available online on the Internet. The Project Brasiliana USP therefore implies the permanent interface between the main activities of the USP - staff training, research and dissemination of results - articulated by a strategic vector nationwide. With strong support from FAPESP, the Ministry of Culture, Petrobras and BNDES, the Laboratory of Brasiliana USP has become a national reference in the field of digitization of collections, especially in the sharing of technology and innovation with other institutions in Brazil.
