
The Department of History and Philosophy offer the opportunity to learn more about the Caribbean trajectory from the first human settlements to diversified and independent nations. You will also learn about African, American and European nations in exciting courses like History of Carnival in Brazil, the Black Experience in the United States and Women in the 20th Century Africa. What about a course on Philosophy of Sex and Love or African Philosophy? Maybe you would like to dig into the Barbadian past to examine fishing tools and cooking pots used by the first inhabitants of the island, in an Archaeology course.
The Department is proud of having highly qualified lecturers, including three Professors and three Professors Emeriti. The History, Philosophy and Archaeology Lecturers are very active in conducting and publishing research, working to bring to our students the latest in their specialized fields at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
