The Westfries Archive gathers and manages the archives and the collections of books and images of local authorities, clubs, churches, institutions, societies et cetera in our region. The oldest documents, dating from the fourteenth century, can be found in the archives of the cities Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik. The most recent archives of local authorities date from the 1990’s. Often, especially in private collections, even more recent documents can be found. Almost all of our archives and collections are accessible through a database of over 120.000 descriptions. Our library contains over 25.000 titles, representing by far the largest collection of books about our region. If you want to deepen your research, for example by consulting the original documents, we will be glad to be of service in our Regional Historical Centre at the Blauwe Berg 5c in Hoorn. Our collection of images (‘Beeldbank’) also contains thousands of photos, maps, drawings, etchings et cetera
