Mapping AWAD countries: Heritage

DutchCulture knows the cultural heritage field of the AWAD Countries

The Atlantic World and the Dutch 1500-2000 (AWAD) was a shared heritage project with the objective to promote the preservation, accessibility and the study of the material and immaterial cultural heritage arising from centuries of contact between the Dutch and the inhabitants of the Atlantic region. AWAD started in 2004 and stopped as a programme in november 2011 due to the dismantling of the Netherlands Institute for Heritage (Erfgoed Nederland). All AWAD data have been integrated into Dutchculture.nl

Underneath here you find a list of the all the AWAD countries. When you click on the country you will be redirected to a list of project, organisations and experts that have been and/or are active in that specific country. In some cases, there is addition information on the country and the shared history with the Netherlands.
