Extended edition on the occasion of 400 years of relations between Turkey and The Netherlands
In 2012 the Turkey Now! festival presents an extensive programme, a versatile cultural showcase of Turkish music; from world music to pop, rock to classical, Gypsy to jazz, folk music to dance DJ's. The festival also features presentations of modern dance, stand-up comedy, cabaret, fashion, film, photography and theatre from Turkey in the Netherlands.
The opening concert in February is also one of the highlights of the festival. The Metropole Orkest accompanies the world-famous Turkish singer family Sam, with mother Leman Sam and her daughters Sevval and Sehnaz Sam. They are the great stars and interpreters of Anatolian folk music in both traditional and modern styles. Special guest is the successful Dutch singer Giovanca, who not only effortlessly combines jazz, soul and pop, but has lived in Istanbul and has a close connection to Turkish music.
