Dutch Days are coming to Beijing this month! A series of events will take place from October 29 until November 8, including various cultural activities, political visits and business networking events. The Consulate-general in Shanghai started the concept of Dutch Days, followed by other missions within the Dutch diplomatic network in China. Dutch Days will annually tour across China with a wide range of activities creating moments for cultural exchange, networking opportunities and political diplomacy.

Now it is Beijing’s turn to host the Dutch Days, kicking off with the Dutch National Ballet performing the beautiful ballet of Giselle of October 30 and 31. The performances will be held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the NCPA, that is also partnering with the Dutch National Ballet in organizing master classes conducted by the company’s talented dancers.

We are also honoured to be receiving political guests during the Dutch Days, such as our minister of Trade and Development Liliane Ploumen together with a large business delegation. Amsterdam’s mayor Eberhard van der Laan will also lead a trade delegation to China and while in Beijing he will be opening an exciting photo exhibition by Foam, the prestigious photography museum in Amsterdam. From October 31 this exhibition will be on display at the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre.

The Beijing edition of the Dutch Days will be concluded by astonishing performances by the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT). This renowned modern dance company will tour China visiting Shanghai and Suzhou, and starting in Beijing at the NCPA on November 7 and 8.

Until then, you are invited to enjoy the many other Dutch cultural activities that are taking place in Beijing and other cities throughout China, such as the Dutch participation at the Chengdu Creativity & Design Week and the One Touch Netherlands Online Film Festival that is currently running on Tencent until December. We hope to welcome you at one of our many events!
