Dutch Fund for Architecture

Dutch Fund for Architecture

The Netherlands Architecture Fund implements various contribution programmes aimed at developing and exchange knowledge concerning the design disciplines and increasing interest in architecture, urbanism, and design.  Each year the Fund supports a large number of national and international unique and innovative projects.

International Projects Architecture / Design

The Programme for international projects focuses on the international profiling of Dutch architecture, urbanism and design. In addition, the Fund aims to enhance the international exchange of knowledge about spatial issues that are topical in the Netherlands.

Priority Countries

The Board of the Netherlands Architecture Fund has designated Turkey and Morocco as priority countries for this policy period. In addition in 2011 the Fund will focus attention on Brazil.

This means, among other things, that grant applications, which have been approved, for projects in these countries will not have their grant sum cut-back in cases where a grant application round’s available budget has been exceeded. In addition the Netherlands Architecture Fund has made available a (limited) budget for supporting projects that fall outside the grant programmes. Read more>>>

RXA Recife Exchange Amsterdam

15.10.11 - 26.11.11

ARCAM presented the results of the exchange of knowledge between Brazilian and Dutch architects. The focus was on current spatial issues and future developments for Amsterdam and Recife, a city in the northeast of Brazil.

The exchange between the two cities is pertinent as both cities are situated in a delta and have to contend with the same water issues. Important questions include: how do both cities work towards a sustainable future, and can they learn from each other?

Opening

The exhibition was opened by Mrs Elisabeth Balsa, Minister-Counsellor of the Brazilian Embassy. Eric van der Kooij (DRO), Paul Meurs (SteenhuisMeurs), Roberto Montezuma (University of Pernambuco) and Noe Sergio (Municipality of Recife) were among those present.

Programme IP

The project forms part of the ‘Brazil Festival Amsterdam’ and the ‘Ano da Holanda no Brasil’ and was made possible with the support of the Netherlands Architecture Fund, as part of the Programme International Projects. The closing date for the next round is 7 January 2012. The Programme is intended to promote international exchange about spatial briefs.

The exhibition is on show at ARCAM until 26 November. The project can be followed on the blog.
