DutchCulture | Buitengaats: World Press Photo Exhibition tour

DutchCulture gathers data on international cultural activities from the Netherlands in all creative disciplines. This week's highlight: World Press Photo tour

Every year following the World Press Photo Contest, the winning images go on tour. In April, the exhibition is officially opened in Amsterdam and can be seen at venues around the globe until March of the next year. The tour program takes in approximately 100 cities in 45 countries and is still expanding.

On 21 August, the exhibition will open in the Sanomatalo building in Helsinki, Finland. For a full list of other venues and dates, click here.

This year's World Press exhibition includes work from the Dutch photographer Carla Kogelman. In 2012, Kogelman was commissioned by Szene Bunte Wähne, a youth theater festival in Austria, to make a documentary about the rural Waldviertel region. Her portrait series of Hannah (7) and Alena (9) -two sisters who live in Merkenbrechts, a village of 170 inhabitants in Waldvierteltors- won a first prize at the World Press Photo Contest 2014 in the category Observed portraits.
