Global Cultural Relations Programme 2022 is accepting applications

GCRP is a training programme designed for cultural professionals pursuing broadening their skills and network in international cultural cooperation.

GCRP is now accepting applications for its 2022 edition, which will take place in Istanbul from 10–13 May 2022.

Cultural Relations Platform emerged as an EU-funded project that connects cultural practitioners worldwide for dialogue, exchange and co-operation implemented by a consortium of four organisations: the Goethe-Institut Brussels (the consortium leader); the European Cultural Foundation; the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts and the University of Siena. The platform also provides expertise to the EU in the field of international cultural relations.

Global Cultural Relations Programme (GCRP) is a training programme that the platform has been running since its launch in 2016. It is a unique opportunity for people working in the cultural and creative sectors to deepen their skills in international cultural relations, network and collaborate with their peers from all over the world, and develop a joint project with them.

Our communications officer Dicle Gülşahin has participated in the 2021 edition of the programme, which took place online due to the pandemic. Gülşahin: "It's a great gateway to international cultural cooperation in practice." Enriched with valuable keynote lectures and all-around facilitation, the programme encourages the participants to design an international cultural project in cooperation. "The great advantage of participating was having the opportunity to connect with a worldwide network of peers from different social settings, with various approaches and best practices. As a young professional, I feel a lot more capable to initiate an international cultural activity, since the programme also functioned as a broad demonstration of resources and possibilities,” she adds.

Criteria

Those interested can now apply for the 2022 edition taking place in Istanbul from 10–13 May 2022. The programme will be conducted in English. 40 professionals and entrepreneurs working in the cultural and creative sectors will be selected. Participants:

  • should be aged 25-39, with at least three years experience in international collaboration
  • could work for a public, private or civil society organisation, or be a freelancer
  • will need to commit to the programme throughout its duration between 10–13 May 2022 and allow time for travel to and from Istanbul.

Professionals who are interested can learn more about the programme by watching former participants talk about their experience in this video, by reading about the 2021 edition of the GCRP, by looking at what the alumni have achieved since taking part in the programme. Please visit FAQs for more information.

How to apply

You can apply via an online application form by 1 March 2022, midnight CET. Applicants will need to provide information on their professional experience, explain their motivations and how they meet the criteria above.

The application form must be completed in English. Applications from those not working in the cultural or creative sectors will not be considered.

Applicants working at the European Union institutions or any of the consortium partners (Goethe-Institut, IETM, European Cultural Foundation and the University of Siena) are unfortunately not eligible for the Global Cultural Relations Programme.
