No more money for National History Museum
After years of discussions about the location and specific scope and tasks, there will be no more money for the national history museum next year, State Secretary for Culture Halbe Zijlstra has told the project directors, according to the Volkskrant.
Last year, Zijlstra withdrew funding for a new purpose-built building to house the museum. The initiative for establishing a museum that should present the nation’s history for a broad audience was originally prompted by the Parliament.
The minister is due to outline how he plans to implement €200m in spending cuts on the arts on Friday.
