Pieter-Jan Oddens, Communication Advisor
Since January 2021 I work for DutchCulture in the position of Communications Advisor/Campaigner in the also newly formed Communications Team. My focus is on strategic communications and campaigning, positioning projects and events in the international arts and culture market and connecting them to a target audience. I closely work together with Service Team and the Country Advisors to know about new projects in an early stage, so I can think ahead about communication strategy, target audience and which kind of promotion needed.
Some information about my background: I studied Graphic Design at the Willem De Kooning Art Academy and Arts and Culture Studies at Erasmus University. I like to combine my knowledge about the Creative Industries and the policy side of Arts and Culture. During my studies, I did an internship at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where I researched and promoted their business art collection. This collection contains artworks from Dutch artists and is used to show the values of Dutch art and culture and decorates Dutch ambassies all over the world. After graduating I freelanced as a marketing and communications officer in the cultural field. I started with small assignments and eventually worked for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, The Mondriaan Foundation and Het Nieuwe Instituut. My experience with international communications in the field of arts and culture fits perfectly with the focus and ambition of DutchCulture. I’m looking forward to start nice collaborations and reach new goals together.
