Both the integration of photography into people’s daily lives and its recognition by the public as a form of art is relatively recent. However, the Turkish public rapidly adapted various photographic technologies as a social tool and exploits it exceedingly. Despite its rising popularity in the social sphere, the general public is just beginning to view it as a powerful and effective form of visual art. Exhibitions are centered on Istanbul and a few other metropolitan cities, so it remains a relatively foreign form of art to the rural regions of Turkey. Moreover, the opportunities to see, to access or to exhibit photography is very limited in these rural areas.
