From Bossa Nova to Baile Funk: on March 1st, 2013 Boom Boom Brazil blasts the roof of Studio K in Amsterdam with a dance night and performances by top acts like Lilian Vieira and Easy Aloha's, all in fa vour of our Foundation Ecotopia.
The Brazilian singer Lilian Vieira was part of the band Bacán in the 90’ties. She tours since 2000 with the formation Brazilectro ZUCO 103 different (inter)national venues and festivals. Since Zuco 103 Lilian has been a popular guest soloist with for example the Metropole Orchestra, Jah6, Mdungu and plays in different configurations with for example Rogerio Bicudo, Nomads and Cariopa. At this moment she is working on her solo repertoire.
Lilian Vieira has her musical roots in the black-oriented "Samba Soul" from the 70s. The 70s were the golden years of creativity in Brazil where greats artists like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa and Maria Bethânia wrote their masterpieces.
These were also the years of the dictatorship, during which criticism on the government had to be expressed in secret. Music thus became the ultimate communication tool. In this fertile period, many musicians experimented with different musical styles and their African origins. In this time of tremendous musical, singers Elis Regina and Elsa Soares reached their peak.
Lilian Vieira brings her own interpretation of this Samba Soul, assisted by great musicians.
