Choreographer Fernando BELFIORE´s research departs from bodily experiences that investigate potentialities of transformation by concentrating on shape, vulnerability, artificiality, and the heart. In so doing, BELFIORE attempts to create a ritualistic disorientation that questions our social certainties.

Date/Time: 14-15 November 20:00

Venue: Guangdong Modern Dance Company Theater

Dansmakers Amsterdam started in 1993 as DansWerkplaats Amsterdam (DWA).  Important Dutch makers such as Ann van den Broek,  Anouk van Dijk, Keren Levi, Giulia Mureddu, Muhanad Rasheed,  Sassan Saghar and  Michael Schumacher started their choreographic careers at DWA.
From a dance laboratory, DWA developed into a dance production house. As generator of talent, Dansmakers stands for research, production  and presentation; a production house with a stage where makers can search, fail and shine. We do this in the form of an open harbor where artists and audience can meet.

Dansmakers Amsterdam has three pillars that serve as the foundation of its activities. The three pillars of Dansmakers activities:  research, production and presentation, are interconnected and help choreographers develop into balanced artists with their own signature. In addition to the three pillars, Dansmakers offers its  facilities in support of makers outside the Artists in Residence, who also represent talent and quality.

He was invited to be part of Europe in Motion in 2012 and received the Impulstanz Danceweb scholarship in 2013.  Currently, he is resident choreographer at Dansmakers Amsterdam, where he made his solo You Must with dramaturgic collaboration of Ivo Dimchev, and most recently, .whatdofinallyshare. that was selected for Aerowaves as priority company 2013.

Fernando is intrigued by the mixture of different elements in performance, combining dance, theater and visual arts. His works are intense and challenging, searching for new forms of engagement with the audience and explore the notion of performativity as a way of affecting perception into a socio-political context.
