European premiere TAO Dance Theater in Amsterdam

The newest work of TAO Dance Theater, 2, is a duet performed by artistic director and company founder Tao Ye and dancer Duan Ni. The music is composed on the natural, spoken rhythms of the dancers. With the highest level of technical virtuosity, these dancers challenge all previous conceptions of modern dance.

The resulting performance is both hypnotic and thought provoking as minimalistic movements develop into virtuosic patterns to express the abstract idea of two souls in conversation.

TAO Dance Theater, founded in 2008, has performed in every modern dance festival throughout China and collaborated with leading Chinese artists across genres. In 2010 Tao made a great impression with his first performance in The Netherlands Weight x 3 at Theater Frascati.

2 is a co-production of the Singapore Arts Festival, NorrlandsOperan and Dansmakers Amsterdam. World premiere June 2011 at the Singapore Arts Festival, in addition it was also performed at the American Dance Festival, M.A.D.E. festival in Sweden and will also be performed at Sadler’s Wells, London and DanceXchange, Birmingham.
