Flip: Paraty International Literary Festival 2012

With the presence of such world-renowned authors as Julian Barnes, Don DeLillo, Eric Hobsbawm and Hanif Kureishi, the first International Literary Festival of Paraty, held in 2003, put Brazil firmly on the map of international literary festivals.

To celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary, Flip veteran Luis Fernando Verissimo will open the proceedings by discussing the value of literature –one of Flip’s central concerns. Silviano Santiago and Antonio Cicero will then pay tribute to Carlos Drummond de Andrade, the subject of this year’s homage, ahead of the 110th anniversary of his birth.
