High-spirited Brazilian gaucho music
Renato Borghetti barely looks into the audience while performing. Most of the time, a low hat conceals his face and he is fully immersed in his gaucho music from southern Brazil. Borghetti remains faithful to traditional styles such as milonga, chacarera and chamame, and combines these with elements from pop, jazz, tango and chamber music. The gaita ponto is a button accordion with a deep, warm sound, and Borghetti plays it with astounding ease and technical dexterity. It is, then, no surprise that he is widely regarded as one of the greatest instrumentalists in Brazil. The musicians in this quartet have great fun playing flute, piano, guitar and accordion, and propelling each other to new musical heights.
