Um novo começo - Brazil meeting

Brazil continues to spur the imagination. In the past two years, the Dutch-Brazilian cultural exchange has been given a big boost with the Central de Cultura programme. This two-year programme was a joint initiative of the following six Dutch cultural funds: Performing Arts Fund NL, Mondriaan Fund, Fund for Cultural Participation, the Netherlands Film Fund, The Dutch Foundation for Literature and The Netherlands Architecture Fund.

At the end of 2012, Central de Cultura finished. What has come out? What inspiration and possibilities do these activities and networks offer for new initiatives and support?

Afternoon session

A concluding event will take place on 22 March in the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ and will take up these questions. Some of the highlights of the Central de Cultura programme will be presented: My waste is your waste, Paraíso Ocupado and Hora Final. Subsequently, Ineke Holtwijk (journalist Volkskrant), Kees Konings (professor Brazilian Studies University of Amsterdam and at CEDLA) and Pieter van Vliet (Dutch diplomat) will present their views on current cultural and economic developments in Brazil.

Extra: dinner and concert

After the discussion, a network dinner takes place at the Bimhuis. The Tribute to Seventies Brasil concert by Lilian Vieira and band featuring dj’s Antal & Funkaholic with special guest dj Paulao rounds off the evening. For the diner and concerts, a limited number of combi-tickets (€ 35 for dinner and concert) is available at the Bimhuis.

Tickets for the concert are available at the Bimhuis > Tickets. A limited number of combi-tickets (dinner and concert) are available. When you register for the afternoon session, you will receive a confirmation by email. This confirmation includes a promotional code you can use to buy a combi-ticket.
