Dutch graphic novel about Vincent van Gogh to be published in Brazil
The Dutch publishing house Nijgh & Van Ditmar sold the Brazilian publishing rights of Barbara Stok’s Vincent to L&PM Editores. The book will be released in Brazil around April 2014.
The turbulent life of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh continues to serve as a source of inspiration for many people. In this graphic novel, artist and writer Barbara Stok takes the reader on a journey to the brief and intense period of time that the painter spent in the south of France in 1888-1889.
Caroline Chang, editor of L&PM Editores: "We are very pleased that we are going to publish Vincent in Brazil. I think it's a wonderful book and I hope we can make Barbara Stok’s work known throughout our country.”
Barbara Stok became well-known for her frank autobiographical comic strips. In 2009, she won the prestigious Stripschapprijs for her entire oeuvre. She has published eight books and many comic strips in newspapers and magazines. Stok has spent three years working on the graphic biography of Vincent van Gogh, turning the experiences of the famous nineteenth-century artists into a story with present-day relevance.
