Dutch Literature at Paraty International Literary Festival 2012
In June Peter Steinz and Maarten Valken (both from the Dutch Foundation for Literature) met about 15 publishers in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The aim of the talks was to arouse interest in Dutch literature, and to gain insight on books that might be interesting for the Dutch market. Next week, Maarten will travel to FLIP , the leading literature festival of Brazil, held in Paraty.
This January, the director of the Festival, Miguel Conde, was invited for Winternachten and met several people within the field of Dutch Literature. During FLIP there will be a focus in Dutch children's book illustrations. There is an audio visual presentation based on the work of 24 Dutch illustrators which will be presented there. Sieb Posthuma (illustrator) and Ton Meijer (actor) will give workshops and presentation on how illustrations from books can lead to animations, ballet and opera, based on the adaptations of Posthuma's work. In Rio de Janeiro Sieb Posthuma and Ton Meijer will give a presentation on Senhor CASACAO to children of 4-7 years of Escola Holanda, a school for less privileged children.
