Dutch in Pernambuco - lecture
Why the Dutch feel welcome in Pernambuco
When you visit Pernambuco, you'll see Dutch places and names, like the Maurits Bridge, Fort de Bruin and even a Fort Orange. Strange ...? Why do these Dutch names appear in Brazil and how did typical Dutch artefacts like yellow brickstones, Gouda pipes and Dutch delftware tiles end up in Brazilian museums?
This lecture by Oscar Hefting (New Holland Foundation), on the shared history of the Netherlands and Pernambuco, is part of the Mixmax Brasil Opening weekend.
