Eddu Grau records new song in Holland

Eddu Grau was born in Complexo do Alemao, a favela in the north of Rio de Janeiro. For him music has always been his way to express himself, create connections with the outside world and break boundaries of prejudice. The sound of his music is known on the streets and alleys of the favela. His lyrics and rhymes tell a little of everyday-life in the favela, impartially, without raising flags who’s right or wrong.

According to Eddu Grau, his musical style is "MPF" , Musica Popular Favelas (instead of MPB, Brazilian Popular Music), but it doesn’t limited itself to the issue of slums and clichés alone: Grau’s texts also speak of love, politics, life and the environment. That is why he reaches an audience that goes beyond the favelas.

In 2011, Eddu Grau took part in Rock Rio, the largest rock event in Brazil. He was one of the 10 finalists in the competition organised by the NGO CUFA Favela-RJ  in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. Last year he performed at the Brazil Festival in Amsterdam.
