Good results with the Dutch representation at Tempofestival in Rio

Central de Cultura supported exchange programs in field of theater and dance. One of the highlight of this exchange programme took place in the fall of 2012 with the TEMPO_FESTIVAL das Artes in Rio de Janeiro. The programme showed a wide spectrum of what the Netherlands has to offer in this field: the more intellectual approach of the musical collective Wunderbaum with Songs at the End of the World, the innovative dance company Emio Greco | PC with Rocco, a Parade-like performance of The sadists: Alabama Chrome, location theatre From now on your name by Pyotr Orkater to the installation Fare well of set designer / director Dries Verhoeven. Sander Veenhof, the visual artist famous for his use of augmented reality, was also present. He developed a project where through an app on the mobile phone he shared a coreography for a simultanuous dance in different parts of the world.

The day before his 'demo' Sander gave a presentation on the development of his work on augmented reality in Teatro Oi Futuro Flamengo. Wunderbaum gave a workshop for theater students, the theme was working as a collective. One of the dancers of Emio Greco | PC gave a number of workshops for 20 dancers. Ria Marks was again working with young Brasilian artists, bringing them a more physical way of acting. The sadists organised a musical workshop.

The program of Cinedans showed a great overview of dance films and Janine Dijkmeijer gave an introduction. There was also the presentation of two readings of Jibbe Willems 'text MAC and Lot Vekemans' text Poison in the framework of the festival.

Within the festival a Hollanddag was organized to bring the cooperation between the Netherlands and Brazil under the spotlight. Members of the panel were Carlos Lagoeiro (as moderator, and as an expert, Teatro Munganga), Ricky Seabra (as creator and as a translator, and expert of arts in the Netherlands), Marleen Scholten (Wunderbaum), Dries Verhoeven. In total the festival showed 23 presentations within 9 days and 1.225 visitors enjoyed the Dutch performances and activities.
