Coming period in the spotlight: examples of quite the contrary, art and culture that goes international without actually travelling. Cooperation and exchange of art and culture across borders actually seems more important than ever.
Museums and the Frans Hals exhibition
The first example: Dutch museums. All around the world, from home, people can visit as much as 31 Dutch museums and insitutions via the service Google Arts & Culture. The service is free and special online exhibitions have been created.
The Frans Hals Museum, located in the city of Haarlem and dedicated to the Dutch painter Frans Hals, has created an online exhibition on the civic guard paitings of Hals. It shows the paintings and zooms in on its details and facts about their creation. They present interesting insights into the lives of the officers class in the Netherlands as well as striking examples of Dutch visual arts around the 1600s. Despite the virus, people from around the world can connect with the civic guard paintings of Frans Hals and many other works of art by Dutch artists.
