Tropenmuseum Junior receives awards for exhibition MixMax Brasil
Tropenmuseum Junior in Amsterdam won two International Design & Communication Awards for its exhibition MixMax Brasil (Silver for Best Exhibition Layout and Bronze for Best Programme). The International Design & Communication Awards are the world’s leading prize for creativity and innovation for cultural organizations. Almost 90 entries were received from 16 different countries.
The jury enjoyed the creative and educative layout of the exhibition MixMax Brasil. They were very impressed by the details of the decor and scenography. The involvement of the Brazilian designers Aby Cohen and Lee Dawkins was very much appreciated.
According to the jury, Tropenmuseum Junior manages to bring Brazil to the children of the Netherlands while teaching them about foreign cultures and recycling: “Your exhibition is very educative. By allowing the children to play with the objects in each room, you succeed in showing them a new culture while involving them”. The jury said that Tropenmuseum Junior is dedicated to children and doing its absolute best “to reach to them in their own language, shape and colour”.
From 6 October 2012 until spring 2015, Tropenmuseum Junior presents MixMax Brasil. This interactive exhibition invites the public to discover the mix culture of Brazil. MixMax Brasil is focused on the rich culture of Pernambuco in Northeastern Brazil.
