Video: ideas on gentrification, inclusion and the citizen-artist in the cities of Antwerp and Rotterdam
By Lisa Grob
The research team consisted of DutchCulture (Amsterdam), deBuren (Brussels) and 'city developers' Floor Ziegler (Stadsmakerscentrum, Amsterdam) and Reinhard Deman (Flanders). During the summer they went to Antwerp and Rotterdam, visiting neighbourhoods that are undergoing gentrification and investigating differences and similarities between the two cities across the Dutch-Flemish border.
The team brought together artists, citizens, cultural institutions and policy makers to discuss the societal function of the arts, and the impact and value arts & culture can have on creating a liveable city.
Watch the video below to find out the views, visions and ideas on gentrification, inclusion and the citizen-artist we gathered during the research days.
