Shanghai International Arts Festival

The Shanghai International Arts Festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and organized by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. It started in 1999 and is held in October and November. It has a very broad program, ranging from performances of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, contemporary multi-media productions and regional Chinese operas.
