Dutch-Norwegian coproduction wins Norwegian film award

Since 1985, the Amanda Awards are given annually at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, to promote and improve Norwegian film. Visual effects supervisor Dennis Kleyn and former animation director Peer Lemmers at the Amsterdam-based visual effects studio Planet X received the prize for best visual effects during the ceremony in Haugesund, Norway.

Planet X was responsible for the complete visual effects share of the movie from pre to finish. It took them a year to create over 220 digital shots of the fully animated dragon, which resulted in 12 minutes of engaging screen time performance.⁠

The youth film Dragon Girl tells the story of the eleven-year-old refugee girl Sara, who meets an orphaned dragon. The feature film, directed by the Swedish-Norwegian Katarina Launing, will premiere in Dutch cinema’s on 1 December 2021.
