Get to know DutchCulture and the Amsterdam Cultural Exchange project
Amsterdam Cultural Exchange
In the project Amsterdam Cultural Exchange DutchCulture works closely with the Municipality of Amsterdam on strengthening the international position of the Amsterdam cultural sector which on its own is responsible for more than half of the international cooperation coming from the Netherlands. In this partnership we focus among other things on organizing information meetings for the Amsterdam sector joint visitor programs and tailored mappings that show both outgoing and incoming cultural activities.
In the framework of this collaboration, a new study by DutchCulture, commissioned by the City of Amsterdam, reveals that international cultural cooperation not only delivers artistic and societal value but also contributes substantially to the Dutch economy. The annual added value can be as much as 10.6 billion euros, which is several times the amount invested. The study thereby demonstrates that investing in international cultural cooperation isn’t just the right thing to do, but certainly a smart thing to do as well.

Morocco as a focal country in the International Cultural Policy of the Netherlands
DutchCulture is the Dutch government’s partner in the implementation of international cultural policy. The 24 countries in the international cultural policy are called focal countries. We offer information, advice, support and coordination for cultural cooperation with those and other countries. Morocco is one of these 24 focal countries DutchCulture closely works with in cultural relations.
Morocco’s geographical location and history makes it a crossroads of cultures, influences and styles and forms from European perspective a bridge between Africa and Europe. The Netherlands enjoys important historical, cultural and economic ties with Morocco and pursues an international policy that fosters cultural cooperation, mutual understanding and dialogue. What is more, thanks to the Moroccan diaspora in the Netherlands there are many ties between the two countries. Mutual curiosity, connections and contacts are contributing to a growing enthusiasm for cultural collaboration.
