International visitors programme: two representatives of renowned artist residencies will visit Amsterdam

We invited Vincent Gonzalvez and Ika Sienkiewicz-Nowacka to the Netherlands to share and exchange knowledge about artist residencies on July 8 and 9.
Monday 8 July 2019
Tuesday 9 July 2019

During these two days, they will be part of the panel discussion on residencies and international communities at our event Internationalisering - vooruitblik 2021-2024. Next to that, they will meet Maaike Lauwaert (head international affairs) De Appel Arts Centre and Head of Residency at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Martijntje Hallmann.

Vincent Gonzalvez is head of the residencies at the Cité Internationale des arts in Paris, a private foundation recognized as a transdisciplinary public utility. It is a transnational and transgenerational platform that hosts more than 1200 artists per year from all over the world. Formerly, Vincent was coordinator of the research program of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (2007-2011) and head of the visual arts and architecture division at the Institut Français, Paris (2011-2018).

Ika Sienkiewicz-Nowacka is a manager of culture, curator and founder of the residency programme at Ujazdowski Castle for Contemporary Art in Warsaw. She graduated from inter-faculty Individual Studies in the Humanities (University of Warsaw) and holds the European diploma for Culture Management (Brussels). Apart from that, she is a member of the Programme Council of Akademie Schloss Solitude. Her research focuses on the significance of residencies within the fields of artistic and institutional practice. She carries out projects in which visual arts become a tool of social change and are used to shape and promote alternative models of social development.
