Amarte Fund: Interdisciplinary - Development grant

Amarte Fund: Interdisciplinary - Development grant

Amarte Fonds: Interdisciplinair - Ontwikkelbijdrage
Funding for interdisciplinary makers for research or experimentation

The Amarte Foundation was founded in 2019 by a number of families that share a deep love for the arts. Together they decided to offer financial means to innovative artists and support projects in music, theatre, film, visual arts, and literature. Amarte would like to serve as a springboard for artists, which is why they offer both development grants and project grants to realize relatively small scale projects.

The Interdisciplinary Development grant is meant to support makers and artists who work between different disciplines (theatre, film, music, visual arts and/or literature) and who wish to experiment with new forms, explore a theme in greater depth, take the time to elaborate on an idea, or research new collaborations. This may include travel abroad.

Amarte doensn’t only offer support with financial means, but also with expertise or coaching for the development of a project. If an application is granted, Amarte offers an extra sum on top of the financial grant for a collaboration with an expert.

Who can apply
Individuals
Organisations
  • Professionals in the field of theatre, film, music, visual arts, or literature, or a combination of these disciplines, based in the Netherlands or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, who want to take a new direction and could use a helping hand. Amarte particularly intends to be there for makers who are often deemed ineligible at other cultural funds;
  • Cultural organisations can therefore only submit an application in cooperation with and on the initiative of an artist/maker for the development of one artistic project.

Amarte offers grantees an extra sum on top of the financial grant for a collaboration with an expert.

Requirements
  • The development period has a clear beginning and an end;
  • The project is at the beginning stage of a creative process (projects that are already at an advanced stage therefore have less chance);
  • The total budget does not exceed €50,000;
  • Two or more of the following disciplines come together: theatre, film, music, visual arts and/or literature;
  • Exchange takes place between different disciplines in the production process as well as in the end product;
  • One discipline may mot be subordinated to the other;

Applications will be reviewed by members of our advisory committee with an expertise in one or more disciplines that are part of your project. The most important factors they pay attention to are:

  • Artistic quality
  • Equal collaboration between the artists
  • Exchange between disciplines during the creative process and in the end product.
  • Enthousiasm

Please note: Applicants cannot apply for multiple projects at the same time. If an application is still pending, it must be completed before submitting a new application. This also means that it is not possible to apply for both a development and a project grant for the same project. However, after completing a development project, one can apply for a project contribution for that same project.
