Culture Fund Caribbean region: Travel grant
The Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied (CCG) supports arts and cultural projects in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, covering Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius, and Sint Maarten. As an independent sister organisation of the Cultuurfonds in the European Netherlands, CCG focuses on six key areas: History & Literature, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Arts & Cultural Education, Nature Conservation, and Heritage Preservation.
In addition to funding local projects across these six islands, the fund also offers travel grants that must align with at least one of the following objectives:
- Promoting local culture: showcasing and representing the region’s cultural identity on international platforms and in educational settings;
- Professional development: attending conferences or workshops to gain new knowledge and skills that directly enhance the artist’s or cultural professional’s work;
- Participation in international platforms: facilitating involvement in international events to connect local artists with broader audiences and networks.
The fund offers two seperate grant categories:
- Professional development grant
For participation in international conferences or professional development programs. - International cultural promotion & participation grant
For showcasing local culture or participating in international platforms.
The applicant must
- reside in one of the six islands;
- actively contribute to the local cultural sector and demonstrate a clear commitment to quality and professional development through recent projects.
Organisations can apply for travel funding for a maximum of four people.
- Professional development grant
A maximum of €2,500
- International cultural promotion & participation grant
A maximum of €5,000 (allocated as up to €2,500 for travel and accommodation costs, and up to €2,500 for transporting project-related materials, instruments, or artworks).
Professional development grant
- Professional training must be directly relevant to the applicant’s current work as an artist, cultural professional, or organisation;
- There is a demonstrated need for further specialization in the applicant’s field of expertise;
- Focus on innovative outcomes, such as new techniques or methods applicable to the applicant’s practice;
- Long-term impact, including a final product or follow-up initiative.
International cultural promotion & participation grant
- A new or existing collaboration/exchange with an international organization or program that promotes local culture internationally;
- Participation in an international event, festival, or exhibition, supported by an official invitation and a confirmed co-funding budget from the inviting organisation;
- Impact on innovation, international visibility, regional network expansion, and a deeper understanding of how local culture connects to global trends. Professional training directly relevant to the applicant’s current work as an artist, cultural professional, or organisation.
Individuals or organisations may apply for a travel grant only once every two years.
