Culture Moves Europe: Individual Mobility Action

Funding for projects of individual artists or cultural professionals in Europe

The Individual Mobility Action of Culture Moves Europe supports artists and cultural professionals residing in a European country who whish to carry out a project with a partner of their choice in another European country. Both countries should be member of the Creative Europe program. Through this action, Culture Moves Europe aims to support artists and cultural professionals in developing their careers internationally, learning and cooperating beyond borders. Funded by the European Union, Culture Moves Europe is implemented by the Goethe Institut.

Who can apply
Individuals

An individual artist or a cultural professional, or a group of maximum 5 artists or cultural professionals who is / are:

  • at least 18 years old
  • legally residing in one of the Creative Europe countries, including the Overseas Countries and Territories (for The Netherlands: Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius) and Outermost Regions of the European Union
  • working in at least one of the 7 eligible sectors: architecture, cultural heritage, design and fashion design, literature, music, performing arts, and visual arts; No specific level of experience is required

The call for individual mobility allows applications from individuals and groups of up to 5 people.

For what
Project
Travel

The grant is composed of a travel allowance, a daily allowance and individual top-ups. The grant calculations are made specifically for each grantee, based on their project and personal situation.

How much
  • Daily allowance of 85 euros per person per day (a contribution to accommodation, food, renting equipment, local transport, etc.)
  • Travel allowance: 400 euros (per person/per round trip) for a travel distance under 5.000 km; 800 euros for a travel distance over 5000 km
  • Top-ups
    • for green travel (€400 per person for choosing not to travel by airplane)
    • for family members (€200 per child)
    • for visa (€120 per person for expenses related to visa processes)
    • for disability support (30€ per day of project implementation; budget to be agreed with the Culture Moves Europe team according to individual needs)
    • for applicants travelling to or from the Overseas Countries and Territories or Outermost Regions, which are for The Netherlands: Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius (€175 per person).

The top-ups can be added cumulatively: one person can receive several top-ups at the same time. Justification and proof for the required top-ups will be asked.

Requirements

The application will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • one project
    • one artistic or cultural project to be carried out in another Creative Europe country, with the support of an international partner
  • the project must pursue two of the following goals:
    • to explore (to conduct creative and artistic research, to investigate, inspire and work on a specific theme or a new concept);
    • to create (to engage in a creative process seeking to produce a new piece of artistic/cultural work);
    • to learn (to enhance the participants’ competences and skills through non-formal learning or collaboration with a specialist);
    • to connect (to develop a professional network, to strengthen the participants’ professional development, to engage with new audiences)
  • one international partner
    • the international partner, which can be an individual or an organisation, collaborates with the artists and cultural professionals during the project implementation
  • supporting documents
    • official national identification
    • proof of legal residence
    • short curriculum vitae
    • artistic and creative portofolio
    • letter of invitation from the international partner

proposing a project in the destination country which will be 7 days minimum and 60 days maximum for an individual project, or 7 days to 21 days for a group project (excluding travel time, and which will be uninterrupted)

 

When to apply
Before a specific deadline
At least 3 months before travel (the project may start no earlier than 60 days from the application deadline).
