Erasmus+ Short-term mobility projects
Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport and offers opportunities to improve knowledge, skills and competences. It can provide access to further education for adult learners with fewer opportunities such as people facing social and economic barriers. For adult education providers and other organisations, the programme offers the possibility to cooperate with a wide range of partners abroad and become more open, dynamic and attractive educational institutions or organisations. Individuals can reinforce their ability to operate in different environment, to satisfy personal needs and boost their willingness to learn further.
The Short-term Mobility Projects (Key Action 1 - KA122) scheme supports projects (between 6 and 18 months) allowing staff and volunteers to go abroad to gain (new) knowledge and skills.
Examples include:
- Attending a training or course
- Job shadowing
- Teaching abroad
This Erasmus+ scheme also offers opportunities for adult learners. International mobility can help individuals build self-confidence, cultural awareness, and skills development. It also provides opportunities to explore themes such as diversity, the environment, or active citizenship in an international context.
The mobility options for adult learners include:
- Group mobility of adult learners
- Short-term mobility of adult learners
- Long-term mobility of adult learners
Accredited organisations do not have to substantiate an application every year for mobility. An application for a new budget for mobility activities will suffice, when organisations have an Erasmus Accreditation. Each year there is one opportunity for organizations to apply for Erasmus Accreditation. In 2025 the deadline for applying for an Erasmus Accreditation is the 1st of October. More info about the Erasmus + Accreditation below.
Organisations providing adult education, in one of the EU Member States, or one of the countries fully associated to the programme: Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey.
This scheme is particularly suitable for organisations that want to carry out a limited number of mobilities (maximum 30 participants) or have little experience with Erasmus+.
