Funding for the realisation of an international film co-production with a Dutch minority co-producer

The NFF+IBF Co-production Scheme is a collaboration between the Netherlands Film Fund and the IDFA Bertha Fund, In order to encourage Dutch involvement in international co-productions.

The IDFA Bertha Fund (IBF) is the only fund in the world dedicated solely to stimulating and empowering the creative documentary sector in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Oceania. Check the IBF list of eligible countries from these regions.

Only Dutch producers who co-produce documentary projects that have received development or production support from the IDFA Bertha Fund (IBF) at an earlier stage.

How much

A maximum of €50,000.

Requirements
  • The film production must have previously received support from IBF Classic or IBF Europe.
  • The total production budget is a maximum of €500,000.
  • The overhead and producer's fee together amount to a maximum of 17.5% of the total Dutch production costs (above and below the line).
  • At least 50% of the awarded amount must be demonstrably spent on Dutch services or cast and crew.
  • The production must be released in the Netherlands, either in cinemas or with a non-theatrical release, or both.
  • The financing of a film production must be fully and unconditionally committed by third parties within 12 months of the decision to grant the subsidy.
  • The applicant shares pro rata in the worldwide revenues of the film production.
