'Witnessing U': Testimonials from the front line

Three Ukrainian theatre-makers who recently fled to the Netherlands present in collaboration with de Toneelmakerij a benefit evening on April 12.

The three Ukrainian theatre-makers who recently fled to Amsterdam – Bogdana Orleanova, Iana Gudzenko and Alesia Andrushevska – present in collaboration with de Toneelmakerij Witnessing U: a benefit evening on April 12, at de Toneelmakerij in Amsterdam. During this evening, Ukrainian and Dutch actors act out various testimonies.

The makers are in daily contact with friends, family and fellow makers who are currently in the Ukrainian war zone. They hear stories about survival in besieged Mariupol, how four teenagers deal with the situation, how a couple from Lviv spends their first day of war, the LGBTQI+ community and colleagues who join the Territorial Defense Forces in Kyiv.
In text and video, the audience is taken to the war zone.

The programme is in English and takes about 60 minutes. Afterwards, there’s an opportunity to have a bite and drink in the foyer.

DutchCulture has set up an info point regarding cultural cooperation with Ukraine and Russia. During this event, DutchCulture advisors will be present for answering questions about (possible) cooperation.
