You are cordially invited to Indonesia Now 2017. On 7 November, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and DutchCulture are organising a conference on future-oriented cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia. This sequel to the first Indonesia Now event in 2015 aims to bring together people with a personal, professional or academic interest in Indonesia to discuss that country’s political, academic and cultural landscape.
This event will go beyond just taking stock of the close ties that exist between the Netherlands and Indonesia and discussing examples of their cooperation. At Indonesia Now 2017, you can engage with academics, civil society actors, policy makers and artists to look into the future and explore new avenues for cooperation between the two countries. Learn from our speakers and share your knowledge, ideas and suggestions on how to strengthen the ties between the Netherlands and Indonesia.
Programme
The afternoon will start with a keynote speech by Desi Anwar, senior anchor and journalist for CNN Indonesia, followed by two rounds of breakout sessions on politics, arts, design, education and cultural heritage. During these sessions you will have the opportunity to discuss with the speakers, learn from the experiences of your peers and present any questions you may have to international and local experts. The day will end with a networking reception.
The following sessions are offered:
- Promoting women’s rights: leadership and mobilisation in the 21st century
- Promoting tolerance in a dynamic religious landscape
- Creative industry in Indonesia
- Dutch-Indonesian cooperation on vocational education
- Contemporary arts and culture in Indonesia
- Heritage as an asset for a sustainable future
